Crease Recovery Tester determines the property of textiles to recover from creases by measurement of the recovery angle.
Crease Recovery Tester at B-Tex Engineering is calibrated and of fine quality.
The specimen is first creased under specified load for fixed time and is then transferred to the measurement device, where one end of the specimen is held in a spring loaded clamp and other is allowed to fall free under its own weight. Now one need to read the scale fixed to moving clamp to know the deflection of the clamped end from the horizontal. This angle gives the measure of the Crease Recovery Angle.

How Crease Recovery Tester works?
  • Fold the specimen and if the surfaces of the specimen have a tendency to stick together, place a piece of paper or aluminium foil, between the ends of specimen.
  • Place the folded specimen between the two leaves of the loading device and immediately apply the weight.
  • Start timing device, and after 5mins quickly but smoothly remove the weight from the first specimen.
  • Using tweezers transfer the folded specimen to the instrument’s circular specimen holder. Insert one end of the specimen between the clamps on the specimen holder, leaving the other end to hang freely.
  • While the specimen is in the holder, adjust the instrument to keep the free hanging end of the alignment with the vertical mark.
  • Finally, read and record the recovery angle from the circular scale 5 minutes after inserting the specimen into the clamp.

Crockmeter

Crockmeter is used for testing the transference of color from the surface of one material to another by either wet or dry rubbing.

How Crockmeter Works?
  • Dry Rubbing:
•    Properly mount your specimen and test cloths. The counter has to be reset by moving the knob on the left side of the counter. The finger is positioned on the specimen at the base’s front end and handle is rotated in the clockwise direction at the rate of approximately 1 revolution per second. The handle is then rotated equal to the number of strokes specified by the test method.
•    When the desired number of strokes is reached, the crocking cloth is removed from the finger and its degree of staining has to be evaluated by SDC grey scale.
  • Wet Rubbing:
•    A fresh piece of crocking cloth is soaked in distilled water and the excess water is removed so that it contains its own mass of water.
•    The wet piece of the crocking cloth is fixed over the end of the finger of the Crockmeter and the test is undertaken.       
•    The dyed or printed fabric has to be mounted on a lower platform.
•    Then 10 cycles are rubbed with a white fabric, which is mounted on a peg in the upper rubbing arm.
•    Then the extent of color that rubs away onto the white fabric against a color transference scale has to be determined.
•    The rubbing action of the peg+ enabled fibers from the upper colored flannel fabric surface to be transferred onto the white backing fabric mounted on the lower platform.
•    The cloth is then removed to evaluate the discolor level in comparison with a gray-scale

Denier Weighing Scale

The Denier Weighing Scale is used for the determination of the weight of yarn, fabric or garment.

Digital Twist Tester

Digital Twist Tester is a Yarn Testing Instrument used for accurate measurement of TPM (Twist per meter) or TPI (Twist per inch) of the twisted yarn.

How Light Fastness Tester Works?
Stage: 1
  • A strip of test specimen (50 × 10 mm) and one strip each of 1 to 8 light fastness standard (LFS) is mounted on the specimen card and the same type is put in the type ?A' rectangular cell. Along with double slot mask (1/3 area cover) 2/3 of the specimen is exposed to light.
  • The effect of light is followed by inspecting the specimen frequently. When a change in color of the exposed portion of the specimen can just be perceived, equal to gray scale grade 4-5, the number of the light fastness standard showing a similar change is noted.
  • The exposure of the specimen and the LFS is continued until the contrast between the exposed and the unexposed portions of the specimen or the LFS no. 7 is equal to gray scale grade 4.
  • If the LFS no.7 fades to a contrast equal to gray scale grade 4 before the specimen does, the exposure is terminated at this stage.
Stage 2:
  • If the specimen fades to a contrast equal to gray scale grade 4 before the LFS no.7  does, the double slot mask is taken out and the single slot mask is inserted having 2/3 area cover.
  • The exposure is continued until the contrast between the fully exposed and the unexposed portions of the specimen is equal to gray scale grade 3. The exposure is terminated at this stage.
  • Assessment of light fastness is done.

Pilling

Digital Pilling Tester is used to check the pilling resistance of the fabric.

Pilling is a fabric surface fault characterized by little pills of entangled fibres clinging to the surface. Pills are formed during wearing or washing by the entanglement of the loose fibres, which protrude from fabric surface. To determine the tendency to form pills, test specimens taken from the fabric sample are rubbed against each other under controlled conditions.

How Digital Pilling Tester works?

  • The very first step is to clean the boxes thoroughly.
  • Then place four mounted test specimens in each box and close the boxes.
  • Later set the pre-set counter at 18000 with the help of the Thumb Wheel setting provided on the Digital Counter.
  • Press the start button. The machine would stop automatically after 18000 revolutions.
  • Now, finally take the specimens and compare them with the photographic rating standards.

Washing fasness

Washing Fastness Tester is used widely for determining color fastness of textile materials to washings.

The color fastness of textile material is determined by way of mechanical hesitation of a specimen of textile with the piece of specified adjacent fabrics in Standard Soap Solution followed by rinsing and drying.  Thereafter, the change in color of specimen and stains of the adjacent fabrics are assessed with standard grey scale.

How Washing Fastness Tester Works?
  • Precondition the main bath, choosing the temperature and time suitable for the test.
  • Fill each jar with necessary amount of Standard Soap Solution to give a liquid to composite specimen ratio of 50: 1.
  • Assuming the temperature is attained, set the timer depending on your test.
  • Open the beakers and place one composite specimen in each jar containing test liquid. Fit the beakers to their respective position by pressing against the spring and rotating it.
  • Press the start switch. After the set time is reached, the motor stops automatically with an alarm buzzer.
  • Remove all the beakers and take out the Composite Specimens and SS balls with the help of filter unit.
  • Rinse the Composite Specimen twice in cold water and then in running tap water for 10 minutes and squeeze them.
  • Evaluate the change in color of the treated test specimen in comparison with an untreated piece of the same sample using the Standard Grey Scale for evaluation of change in color.
